2008 Master List
4th-Jun-2008 06:45 pm
teamy goodness
On behalf of uniquinum and myself, I would like to thank you all for being such generous, enthusiastic participants. We went live only a day after our deadline, with twenty-three stories written by twenty authors. Those are pretty good statistics for a first-time ficathon run by first-time mods in the up-on-the-moon category of gen!

Extra thanks to three certain authors who not only contributed fics, but graciously acted as beta for multiple entries. This corner of the fandom is too fantastic for words, so I'm not going to even try. :)

The master list is in alphabetical order by author. If there are broken or misdirected links, please comment and let us know.

Thanks for having the idea that became the legend ficathon, Fig! And props to you and uniquinum for doing so much work to make this happen!

It takes a special kind of squeeful craziness! Fortunately, any hints of sanity remained safely hidden throughout the duration. :D

How am I supposed to decide which to read first?

(Thank you for putting this together. Muy divertido!)

I'm personally going down the master list in order, because picking and choosing is impossible.

Although I snuck the Sha're fic in first, because I couldn't resist.

Thanks for doing your part to make the ficathon a success!

Not having done a ficathon before, do we ever get to know whose prompts we had? While it doesn't matter, I'm curious. ;-)

Ficathons are different in this respect. Exchanges obviously, you know who you're writing for, even if you don't know who's written for you until the "reveal" (sometimes those are delayed a week...submitted as blind authors).

Some prompt-a-thons you know, some you don't. (Some you don't even remember if you were the prompter. Er, not that I know that from personal experience or anything. *whistles innocently*)

If we'd been prescient enough to announce in the prompts post that we'd unscreen it after the ficathon was over, then yes. Since we didn't, and there's no way to get permission from everyone (half the prompters are not ficathon participants), then no.

On the other hand? I'd love it if people who recognize their prompts would make a special point to comment on those fics and express their appreciation to the writers.

Of course, as Aurora points out, that involves remembering what prompt you gave... :)

You must join more ficathons! Traditional style involves writing a specific prompt for a specific recipient, which enables you to gear it to what that person enjoys.

Huzzah! That's a fabulous looking list! Today and tomorrow have been and promise to be crazy (brother's graduating, hours and hours of pomp and circumstance!) but I'm dipping in to the list whenever possible. Am cheating and checking on the final versions of the ones I beta'd first, and then just jumping around as the titles strike me. *grin* You'd never guess I'm a librarian's daughter from my complete lack of organizational oomph.

Thank you to you both for the fantastic work you did on organizing this all--you made it fun to participate!

I am SO squeeful at so much delicious gen fic! Go us!

And thanks so much for going way and beyond the call of duty: writing your own story AND doing back-up AND doing beta! You make our corner of fandom even more full of shiny. :)

Ooh, lots of lovely Gen fic to read. Finally :D
5th-Jun-2008 11:47 am (UTC)
Oh, yeah, I'll get behind that one - never enough gen fic! So yay gen ficathons!

Planning a Gen Fic Day for Daniel's b-day, too, if that helps...

Completely off topic but I love your icon!!

..and I am unanimous in that.....
6th-Jun-2008 01:49 am (UTC)
Dang! I've finished the stories. That was fun! Can we do it again! Say, now? Where am I going to find more Gen stories otherwise.... Sigh.... Thanks, everybody, I really enjoyed that. I shouldn't have read it all up so fast. Guess I'll go back and read 'em again!
6th-Jun-2008 08:30 am (UTC)
You're right there isn't enough Gen fic out there, and you'll need to talk to sg_fignewtown about doing it again, she's the brains behind this whole thing.

Finally, time to read, and not just skim and poke into things. Thanks so very much for taking the time to do this--it was fun wriing. More fun now to dive in and enjoy.
